| Abstract (Portuguese): |
Being the leadership a process of influence between leaders and followers, becomes pertinent to know the perception of the led nurses, in the direction to contribute for the change and the best joint between the collaborators. The aims of this paper are to describe the leadership perception of the practitioner nurses who develop their professional activity in a hospital unit, and verify if it is related to demographic and professional variables (years in the profession, years in the current service, gender, age and professional category). A quantitative study is developed. Data were collected by questionnaire, consisting of a scale of 'leadership perception' (with the dimensions 'recognition', 'communication', 'teams development' and 'innovation') and of questions referring to the personal and professional variables. The sample consists of 103 nurses, mainly graduated nurses and of feminine gender, with ages between 23 and 65 years old. The leadership perception of the led nurses is in average 3,64±0,86 (in a 1 to a 5 points scale), and statistical significant difference or relation between the leadership perception of the rendering nurses of cares and any of the 0 variable in study isn't verified. The dimensions 'communication' and 'team development' are the ones that have higher average values. Some changes and some practices are suggested in order to promote this change.
