| Abstract: |
Dowry known social evil prevailing in India since our independence. The most heinous and shocking forms of dowry are dowry death and homicidal deaths of women in India. The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 provides the protection against this crime. Even after this Act every year approximately 8000 cases are registered for dowry death under crime against women in India.
