| Abstract: |
The work presents results of several studies of the consequences of Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for both Russian produces and consumers. Branches of industry and the services sector were examined. A reduction in tariffs on durable consumer goods by 5 percent may lead to reductions in household expenditure on these goods between 7 percent and 22 percent, depending on the kind of good. Aggregate expenditure per household member on eight groups of commodities, expenditures on which comprise about 70 percent of all expenditures on nonfood goods, will fall by 540 rubles per year. |
