Abstract: Introduction Acute cholangitis is defined as bacterial infection of the biliary tract. We performed this study to identify the indication for urgent Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP) in acute cholangitis patients, based on the new prognostic scoring system. Method This was a prospective cross sectional study analysis of 112 patients who was admitted with the diagnosis of acute cholangitis from January 2015 till May 2015. The patient was scored using the proposed new scoring system and base on the score they were divided into urgent-ERCP group and elective-ERCP group. The factors included are the presence of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), low serum albumin level(20mg/dl), a low platelet count(
