Si la pratique du récit d'enquête est désormais largement institutionnalisée en sociologie, celui-ci est principalement utilisé pour rendre compte de la position du chercheur ou de la chercheuse sur son terrain, des conditions de production des matériaux et de l'impact de celles-ci sur l'analyse. En revanche, les éléments du processus de recherche qui se déploient en dehors et au-delà du strict cadre du terrain d'enquête (l'émergence d'un questionnement, la formulation des hypothèses et des résultats, etc.) font moins souvent l'objet d'une réflexivité analytique. L'auteure défend alors l'idée d'un récit d'enquête élargi, qui ne soit pas distinct de l'élaboration théorique et analytique et qui trouve une place tout au long du manuscrit. En mobilisant une série d'extraits de sa thèse portant sur les carrières sportives polyvalentes, l'auteure met en évidence la façon dont se traduit, concrètement, ce choix d'écriture sur le manuscrit, en explicite les raisons et en analyse les conséquences. Although the practice of the survey narrative is now widely institutionalized in sociology, it is mainly used to account for the researcher's position in the field, for the conditions of production of materials and their impact on the analysis. On the other hand, the elements of the research process that unfold outside and beyond the strict framework of the field of investigation (the emergence of a question, the formulation of hypotheses and results, etc.) are less often the subject of analytical reflexivity. The author defends the idea of an extended survey narrative, which is not distinct from the theoretical and analytical elaboration, so that it can find a place throughout the manuscript. By mobilizing a series of extracts from her thesis on multi-sport careers, the author highlights the way in which this choice of writing is actually reflected in the manuscript, explains the reasons for it, and analyzes its consequences.
