This article pays tribute to André Guillerme (1945-2024), co-founder of the Francophone Association for the History of Construction, highlighting his contributions to the history of construction, particularly through his research on invisible materials, modest buildings, and embodied knowledge in the building trades. Guillerme, trained as a civil engineer, also directed the Center for the History of Techniques and the Environment, promoting a critical and ethical approach to the history of construction. The article also mentions Joël Sakarovitch (1949-2014), whose work opened new perspectives in the study of construction by integrating interdisciplinary approaches and emphasizing the importance of creative processes. The contributions of these two prominent figures are highlighted, illustrating their impact on research and teaching in the field of architecture and construction. [Extracted from the article] |
