The article examines the integration of play and gamification within organizational life, highlighting the increasing corporate emphasis on treating work as a game to foster employee engagement and productivity. It critiques the notion of "pure play," arguing that when play becomes incorporated into business practices, it can lead to ethical blindness, loss of collective identity, and exploitation under the guise of fun. The authors suggest that while play has positive associations, its corporate appropriation may mask deeper issues such as surveillance and labor exploitation, ultimately transforming the dynamics of work and community.
