| Abstract (English): |
Objective: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a degenerative spinal condition frequently affecting elderly individuals and negatively impacting quality of life (QOL). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between radiological severity and QOL in a Turkish population with LSS. Materials and Methods: A total of 102 patients were retrospectively evaluated using the Schizas classification and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Subgroup analyses were performed using Spearman's correlation coefficients to assess the relationship between ODI and age, weight, and body mass index (BMI) within each Schizas grade (B, C, D). Results: In the overall cohort, a weak positive correlation was observed between BMI and ODI (ρ = 0.33, p < 0.001), while no significant correlations were found with age, height, or weight. In subgroup analyses, the Schizas B group showed a moderate negative correlation between age and ODI (ρ = --0.47, p = 0.008) and a weak positive correlation with BMI (ρ = 0.37, p = 0.047). In the Schizas D group, ODI was very strongly correlated with BMI (ρ = 0.85, p < 0.001) and strongly correlated with weight (ρ = 0.72, p = 0.001). Conclusion: There was no overall correlation between radiological stenosis grade and QOL. However, in certain subgroups, particularly grades B and D, body composition variables showed stronger associations with disability. Therefore, clinical symptoms should be prioritized over radiological classification in treatment planning and follow-up. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Turkish): |
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
