Abstract: Midwifery education has long used methods involving roleplay, which undoubtedly help to position the learner in a participatory and reflective space. This article explores the possibilities of forum theatre as an additionally valuable educational tool to inspire collective recognition and change across global midwifery themes, such as respectful maternity care. The article discusses the pilot use of forum theatre methodology in the form of two plays performed in an established midwifery workshop curriculum to highlight the potential in midwifery education. The article draws on evaluation feedback from the overall programme and shares insight into the method, as well as volunteers' and participants' experiences, making the case for the wider future use of forum theatre in midwifery and maternity.
