Abstract: The application of coolant is essential for dissipating the heat produced between the tool and work material during machining. The coolant also facilitates the reduction of friction and enhances the removal of chips produced during milling. Flood lubrication is employed in the majority of machining operations within manufacturing industries; yet, it raises significant health and safety concerns for operators. Concerns regarding the disposal of old coolant are increasing in today’s industrial context. Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) is an innovative technology that addresses environmental concerns while enhancing cooling and lubrication efficacy during machining processes. A comprehensive analysis was conducted on the significance of air and oil flow rates in MQL concerning surface roughness during turning operations. The results revealed that surface roughness is significantly increased when using an air flow rate of 24.9 liters per minute combined with an oil flow rate of 1.08 cc per minute, while maintaining consistent feed rate, cutting speed and depth of cut.
