| Abstract: |
Drug-coated balloon (DCB) treatment, especially for treatment of coronary de novo disease, is gaining attraction worldwide. The basic prerequisite for this therapy is lesion preparation. DCBs will not replace drug-eluting stents but will play an important role in the reduction of permanent implants in interventional vascular medicine in the future. Future developments will include optimized lesion preparation techniques, defining the role of intravascular imaging, and physiology. Further improvements regarding coating technologies and the choice of the anti-restenotic drug will guide future DCB technologies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
