| Abstract: |
The article focuses on the critical issue of ensuring access to physical activity as a fundamental human right for forcibly displaced populations, including refugees, asylum seekers, and disaster survivors. It highlights how restrictive immigration policies, overcrowded detention centers (such as those operated by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement), conflict zones like Syria, and disaster-affected areas in South Asia often limit opportunities for safe physical activity, undermining health, mental well-being, and human dignity. Drawing on international human rights frameworks and case studies, the article calls for integrating physical activity into humanitarian, immigration, and disaster response policies through research, program design, and advocacy. It emphasizes that promoting physical activity among displaced populations is essential not only for public health but also as a matter of social justice and equity. [Extracted from the article] |
