Plain Language Summary: What is this summary about? This is a summary of two published articles about centanafadine, a medication that is being studied to treat attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This summary will include data from two large clinical trials, one in children with ADHD and the other in adolescents with ADHD. What was the goal of these studies? The goal of the studies was to find out if centanafadine worked to treat ADHD symptoms and if it was well tolerated (meaning most people had few or only mild side effects and were able to keep taking the medication). Finding new treatments for ADHD is important. Some people cannot take available medications because they do not work well for them, or they cause side effects. What did the results show? There were a total of 480 children and 459 adolescents who entered the studies. The participants (the children or adolescents in the studies) and their caregivers reported an improvement in ADHD symptoms. Most study participants tolerated centanafadine well, with fewer than 8% discontinuing the study due to side effects. What do the results of the study mean? Centanafadine may be a helpful medication to treat the symptoms of ADHD in children and adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
