| Abstract: |
Literacy research reviews at the 1988 and 1990 ISAAC Conferences suggested little scholarly activity and a focus on within-individual sources of difficulty. This situation has changed dramatically in the past four years with the completion of at least six doctoral dissertations, the publication of a themed issue of a major journal devoted specifically to literacy and individuals with severe speech and physical impairments, and the conduct or publication of more than 20 additional studies. In this presentation, research currently in progress or published since 1990 will be synthesized and directions for future study explored. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
