The article chronicles the operation of the Budd rail diesel car (RDC) on the South Pacific railroad in Albany, California in the 1950. Delivered for service on March 22, 1954, the car, equipped with reclining coach seats, bore Budd construction Number 5917. The RDC was sold to Kyle Railways and wound up on its Oregon, Pacific & Eastern in excursion service, and in 1978 was sold to the Moody Foundation. |
