The article offers an analysis on the stress concentration factors in shoulder fillets. It discusses a study about shoulder fillets basing on Peterson's stress concentration factors. The designers used finite-element analysis (FEA) to overcome the inaccuracies in some of the methods used in the previous studies. The study found that FEA reveals shoulder fillets under unanticipated stress, which are clearly represented through the use of curves or design equations provided in the article. |
