This article discusses the failure of a bid of Aluminum Corp. of China to boost its stake in Anglo-Australian mining company Rio Tinto in 2009. It attributes the failure to an increase in commodity prices that resulted to new investment opportunities for Rio Tinto. It also indicates the availability of funds as the credit crisis eases. In addition, the article notes the plan of Aluminum Corp. to pursue other means to expand its business. |
