The article discusses a research on the biomass of herring consumed by humpback whales (HW) in the Gulf of Alaska and offers estimates of whale predation on wintering herring. The researchers showed that whales can increase deaths by allowing herring more accessible to other predators. They also described how HW influence the behavior of wintering herring. |
