| Abstract: |
This guide offers teachers and after-school group leaders 12 fun and engaging activities. Activities feature lessons on trees, water, wind, the earth, food, and waste. The activities are designed to help children aged 5-8 become more aware of the natural environment and fundamental conservation principles. Titles of children's books are embedded in the activities in order to help stimulate discussions. The Teacher Training Opportunities can serve as excellent resources to help teachers feel comfortable leading discussions and activities on the environment. The Teacher's Guide At-A-Glance, which includes an activity correlation to the National Science Education Standards, is designed to help incorporate the activities into the classroom curriculum. Reproducible Woodsy Owl and Woodsy Owl Badges are also included. (SAH) |
