Abstract: This brief presents findings from a four-year evaluation of the implementation of Opportunity Culture (OC) in Ector County ISD (ECISD). OC uses a multi-classroom leadership strategy in which selected high-quality teachers lead a team of teachers and are held accountable for student achievement in all classrooms of the team's teachers. We replicate quantitative research evaluating OC in North Carolina, but to our knowledge, we are the first mixed methods evaluation of OC. The main content in this brief highlights our quantitative findings. We found that students with Multi-Classroom Leaders exhibited large gains in achievement. Students with Team Teachers also showed moderate improvement in achievement, and we show that OC likely improves the effectiveness of teachers beyond those directly participating in the program.
