| Abstract: |
In higher education, men of color (MoC) initiatives have gained prominence as programmatic interventions designed to support the persistence of MoC. Although a promising practice, scholars and practitioners have criticized MoC initiatives for reproducing narrow conceptualizations of who is most affected by gendered, racial, and culturally mediated systems. That is, these initiatives have been the subject of critiques that they frequently reproduce heterosexism and trans oppression, erasing the needs of queer and trans MoC. This practice brief addresses this issue by attending to how MoC programs can integrate queer and trans MoC, providing recommendations like adjusting facilitator recruitment and participant selection. |
