Contrato Predoctoral CIDEGENT/2020/020 ; CIBEFP/2022/31 ; The Standard Model of particle physics, despite being a remarkably successful theory, leaves many questions unanswered. Notably among these open questions are the origin of neutrino masses, an explanation for the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe and the nature of dark matter. This thesis focuses on several beyond the standard model scenarios that address these unexplained phenomena by proposing non-minimal extensions of the neutrino and the dark sectors. Concerning the neutrino sector, a key focus is on extended seesaw models and leptogenesis. In particular, extensions of type-I seesaw with a dark sector that can account for neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism and the baryon asymmetry is explained via thermal leptogenesis. We also discuss new seesaw models arising in the presence of additional scalar and fermion multiplets. We further investigate asymmetric and multi-component dark matter models, where asymmetries play a crucial role in shaping the relic abundance, as well as in determining the asymptotic nature of the dark matter candidate. Finally, the role of a feebly connected rich dark sector in determining neutrino cosmology is examined. ; Generalitat Valenciana |
