Key Takeaways Net‐zero water for long‐term water security and sustainability can be best quantified by comparing consumption with the net freshwater balance, including source water recharge. This approach can support individual decisions when investing in water infrastructure and water conservation projects or for identifying critical locations for aquifer recharge. While the sites studied did not meet US Army's Net Zero water criteria using the traditional calculation, all achieved or have feasible plans to achieve Net Zero under this more holistic approach. |
