"Wie Schön Ist Panama," influenced by the work of Janosch and his book, stands as a testament to artistic ingenuity and collaborative effort. Originally composed by Sebastian Gabriel Weiter, this enchanting score underwent a transformative journey led by Guilherme da Fonseca and his dedicated team. The project began when Sebastian Gabriel Weiter invited Guilherme da Fonseca to produce all of his compositions using a mix of virtual instruments as well as recorded instruments. After almost a year, Guilherme was asked to record everything with the Tuna Académica da Universidade de Coimbra Orchestra. The genesis of this musical tale started with Guilherme da Fonseca recording sixteen distinct themes from Weiter's composition, each note serving as a brushstroke on the canvas of their creative vision. Originally intended for a comprehensive recording with a large ensemble, circumstances led the team to pivot, encountering challenges and issues. Undeterred, Guilherme and his team meticulously navigated this musical labyrinth, engaging in re-arrangements, particularly within the brass, woodwinds, and percussion sections, to preserve the essence of Weiter's creation while incorporating new influences from Gershwin and Prokofiev, and recorded 10 themes making a Medley. In a strategic move, the copyright for this rendition was registered as an arrangement and interpretation of the original piece. This maneuver secured recording rights for Guilherme da Fonseca and Micrologus Studio while honoring Sebastian Gabriel Weiter as the rightful copyright holder of the original composition. It's a delicate dance of artistic expression and legal nuances, a symphony of collaboration, and respect for creative legacies. ; Special thanks: Centro de Estudos Cinematográficos, Marta Bajouco, Robert Junqueira, Tatiana Salgado. |
