Quincke's disease or hereditary angioedema is a genetic disease caused by the functional deficiency of the enzyme C1 inhibitor. It is a rare desease of autosomal dominant transmission , characterized by recurrent self-limiting episodes of angioedema. Its incidence is estimated from 1:10 000 to 1:50 000 habitants, it has been described in all races and affects both sexes equally and attacks affect the skin, abdomen and pharynx or larynx. Cuba, especially the province of Villa Clara, have been affected in recent years by the presence of patients suffering this disease. The rapid diagnosis, based on a proper physical examination, and appropriate treatment are essential tools to avoid complications. A call is made on the medical act in this health situation in order to preserve the most precious treasure, life. ; La enfermedad de Quincke o angioedema hereditario es una enfermedad genética causada por la deficiencia funcional de la enzima C1 inhibidor. Es una enfermedad rara, de transmisión autosómica dominante, caracterizada por episodios recurrentes y autolimitados de angioedema. Su incidencia se estima de 1:10 000 a 1:50 000 habitantes, ha sido descrita en todas las etnias y afecta a ambos sexos por igual y los ataques afectan la piel, el abdomen y la faringe o la laringe. Cuba, y en especial la Provincia de Villa Clara, se han visto afectadas en los últimos años por la presencia de pacientes que sufren esta enfermedad. El rápido diagnóstico, basado en un correcto examen físico, y el tratamiento adecuado son las herramientas esenciales para evitar las complicaciones. Se hace un llamado sobre el actuar médico ante esta situación de salud a fin de preservar el más preciado tesoro, la vida. |
