Description: The use of conventional method in tunnelling is still very popular when dealing with difficult ground conditions where mechanized tunnelling method cannot be used. However, the design of such structures is very difficult, and generally, it is based on empirical theories. In the paper numerical analyses of shallow tunnel built in soil with the use of conventional tunnelling method together with jet grouting canopy are presented. Numerical model was built in 3 dimensional space. For carrying out numerical analyses with the possible highest accuracy, great care was taken to reproduce complex geometry, construction steps and mechanical behaviour of various materials. Constitutive models describe crucial mechanical behaviour of all materials, such as: various stiffness during unloading, shear hardening, higher stiffness in small-strain range, time dependent stiffness and strength.
