The article analyzes the strategic role of cooperativism in overcoming socioeconomic challenges in regions with low economic density, focusing on the municipality of Tarauacá(AC), Brazil. The research investigates how agro-extractive and family farming cooperatives promote productive inclusion and sustainable development through the valorization of local resources, the strengthening of the solidarity economy, and the expansion of market access. Using a qualitative, exploratory, descriptive, and bibliographical approach, the study draws on secondary data from institutional documents and scientific literature (2002–2024). The results show that despite structural limitations—suchas poor infrastructure, limited access to credit, and low education levels—cooperatives have proven effective in generating income and valuing local production, especially in the rubber, Brazil nut, and family farming chains. Successful experiences, such as those of CAET, Cooperacre, and COOPTACRE, demonstrate the transformative potential of these organizations when supported by technical assistance, training, and appropriate public policies. The study also highlights the importance of social technologies and inter-cooperation in strengthening resilience to market challenges. It concludes that the strengthening of cooperativism requires integrated actions among governments, civil society, and support institutions to promote professionalization, process modernization, and commercial coordination. Thus, cooperatives are consolidated as essential instruments for sustainable regional development, particularly in Amazonian contexts, where socio-environmental specificities demand inclusive and adaptable productionmodels. ; O artigo analisa o papel estratégico do cooperativismo na superação dos desafios socioeconômicos em regiões de baixa densidade econômica, com foco no município de Tarauacá (AC).
