| Description: | Earnings inequality among males in the United States has increased rapidly since the early 1970s. Recent research (e.g., Burtless [1990], Karoly [1992], and Moffitt [1990]) has found that most, if not all, of the increase has been due to the rising inequality of wage rates, with changes in the inequality of hours worked playing little, if any, role. |
