| Description: |
The Battery-Powered Safety and Function Evaluator (B-SAFE) is a portable device designed to improve the safety and efficiency of trailer electrical system testing. Traditional diagnostics often require a tow vehicle and multiple individuals, increasing time and risk. This project develops a self-contained, 12 VDC-powered system that allows a single user to independently activate and verify trailer circuits, including turn signals, brake lights, taillights, reverse lights, and auxiliary power. The system uses fused protection and manual switching to isolate circuits and prevent damage during faults. Compatibility with both 7-way and 4-flat connectors ensures broad usability across civilian trailers. By providing direct control and clear fault identification, B-SAFE reduces diagnostic complexity and inspection failures. This project demonstrates practical application of circuit design, fault isolation, and electrical safety principles to address a common real-world problem. |
