The 1+Million Genomes Initiative is promoting an European reflection on national strategies for genomic medicine, and how these will contribute to research andclinical practice.o Implementation of genomic medicine is complex and requires investment and adjustments in healthcare services.o To promote the clinical implementation of genomic medicine and improve its societal impact, the Beyond 1 Million Genomes (B1MG) projecto developed and validated a comprehensive Maturity Level Model (1+MG MLM) for genomic medicine,o organised three country exchange visits for capacity building,o organised workshops on health economics models for genomics. The Roadmap proposes 3 steps for implementation of genomics in healthcare systems:1. ASSESS the maturity of genomics implementation in healthcare systems using the 1+MG MLM;2. PLAN by learning from successful practices and guidelines, design an action plan and seek committment from governments to secure funding.3. IMPLEMENT genomic medicine best practices in healthcare systems using the 1+MG MLM to monitor progress. |
