The authors present scenes of armed men in rock paintings of Roboré municipality (Chiquitania, Dept. Santa Cruz, Bolivia), sometimes accompanied by the figure of a wild cat. Moreover, they note the representations of “jaguar men” with details belonging to these animals. They refer to Colonial chronicles which inform about permanent conflicts between different ethnic groups of Chiquitania, and the transformation of men in wild cats in pre-Hispanic times, as can be seen in the so-called uturuncos in NW Argentina and the chachapumas of Tiwanaku.
