Spondylodiscitis is an infection of the spine whose incidence has been increasing in recent years. The clinic is non-specific, the most frequent symptoms being pain and fever, which can cause neurological involvement. The diagnosis is based on clinical, analytical, microbiological, histological and imaging crite-ria, where the role of magnetic resonance stands out. Treatment consists of antibiotic therapy, fixation of the infected segment, and debridement in case of neurological complications.We present the case of a 59-year-old man admitted with symptoms of low back pain and fever of 6 days of evolution who was diagnosed with spondylodiscitis by MRI and received antibiotic treatment, pre-senting sensory complications and loss of sphincter control during admission ; La espondilodiscitis (ED) es una infección de la columna vertebral cuya incidencia está aumentando en los últimos años. La clínica es inespecífica, siendo los síntomas más frecuentes el dolor y la fiebre, pudiendo causar afectación neurológica. El diagnóstico se basa en criterios clínicos, analíticos, microbiológicos, histológicos y de imagen, donde destaca el papel de la resonancia magnética. El tratamiento consiste en antibioterapia, fijación del segmento infectado y desbridamiento en caso de complicaciones neurológicas. Presentamos el caso de un varón de 59 años ingresado por cuadro de dolor lumbar y fiebre de 6 días de evolución que fue diagnosticado de espondilodiscitis mediante resonancia magnética y recibió tratamiento antibiótico, presentando complicaciones sensitivas y pérdida de control de esfínteres durante el ingreso. |
