| Description: |
This article stresses the view that earnings differentials can be explained by taking into account allocation between heterogeneous workers and heterogeneous jobs. we establish others econometric relationships between Education and Earnings from alternative theoretical hypothesis: a specification of the earnings function derived from allocation model of the labour market. The specification consists in taking into account not only the characteristics of the human capital individual supply but also the characteristics of the human capital demand from employers. We use data from the “ Enquête Emploi ” 1997 and we establish different earnings functions. Comparing educational levels of individuals and levels required by the job, undereducation et overeducation variables are defined. With F-test, we reject the Mincer’s earnings function, we prefer hedonic model. Finally, we study the allocation of individuals to the different jobs, defined by some characteristics and the wages: we estimate an allocation model where the selection rule is based on an ordered probit model. We show that the allocation process follows the comparative advantage. |
