This public deliverable, D6.5, relates to possible pathways for certifying innovations arising from SUSTAINair research outcomes for actual usage in series production within the aviation industry. The goal of this document is to provide an introduction to the relevant aspects of certification and identify possible certification routes for SUSTAINair innovations, particularly those related to new or modified materials. As a public deliverable, it aims to contribute to future investigations in this field by other RIA projects, the aviation industry, or other stakeholders in circular aviation. To address this important topic, the SUSTAINair consortium collaborated with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This report summarizes the results obtained through this cooperation, particularly focusing on the SUSTAINair Workshop on Contribution to Standardisation, which was held on March 17th, 2024, at EASA Headquarters in Cologne, Germany. The report provides an outline and overview of the certification process for the aviation industry in the European Union and evaluates selected SUSTAINair results compared to the identified certification routes. It investigates how SUSTAINair findings could potentially be implemented by the industry in the near future and serves as the starting point for a roadmap to the certification of SUSTAINair results.
