Description: In 2016, the FAMU collaboration performed an experiment to measure the temperature dependence of the muon transfer rate from muonic hydrogen to different atoms (carbon, oxygen and argon). The results obtained with oxygen have been already published by the collaboration. This paper presents the results of the first measurement of the muon transfer rate to carbon as a function of the temperature in the range 197-300 K. The results suggest that oxygen is still the best candidate for the measurement of the Zemach radius of the proton with the FAMU experimental technique.
