Objective Although obesity is an established risk factor for Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), our previous work has demonstrated a high prevalence of DM in populations with lower body mass index (BMI). Further, the roles of key modifiable risk factors of diabetes, such as vitamin D status, in these populations remain unclear. In this cross‐sectional study, we assessed the associations between vitamin D, diabetes, and pre‐diabetes among patients with suspected tuberculosis (TB) and low adiposity in India. Methods Study participants were recruited based on the presentation of clinical signs and symptoms of tuberculosis (n=848).
