Description: The ageing population and the increasing integration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) underscore the need to understand how drivers learn and adopt these technologies. The aim of this study is to analyse learning strategies and training preferences across three age groups (18–30, 31–59, and 60–79). An online survey was conducted with 299 drivers to assess ADAS usage, training experiences, and AV perceptions. Results show that younger drivers primarily learned through trial and error or family assistance, while older drivers relied more on dealership training. Both groups recognised the usefulness of ADAS training, with high levels of agreement observed across age groups. Older participants also showed significantly greater acceptance of AVs after simulator interaction and expressed stronger motivation when using informative interfaces. These findings highlight the importance of tailored training to improve ADAS and AV adoption across different age groups.
