Description: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) affects 69 million people per year worldwide, being the most common cause of death in those younger than 40-years of age. The need for a targeted vestibular diagnostic approach, treatment, and research in TBI is considerable, given that half of TBI patients after 5 years have vestibular complaints. The patterns of vestibular deficits in TBI are complex. These constitute multiple peripheral and central vestibular disorders in individual patients, of which, a number can be clearly identified and treated. In this chapter we discuss our own research and observations, as well as past and recent studies addressing the various aspects of vestibular pathologies and vestibular perceptual alterations in TBI.
