| Description: |
Community-based violence prevention and intervention programs work to prevent and mitigate the effects of community violence among youth. Programs operate in diverse community settings and employ unique approaches to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors against interpersonal violence for the youth they serve. This scoping review aims to identify existing outcomes of community-based youth violence prevention and/or intervention programs and explore how organizations evaluate these outcomes. This protocol reports the methodology for the scoping review, which will focus on peer-reviewed original research of programs serving youth aged 8-18 in urban U.S. settings, published from 2010 to present, and identify both deficit- and strengths-based outcomes. By advancing a more comprehensive understanding of the range of community-based violence prevention programs and their theorized and realized impacts, the subsequent scoping review will guide future evaluation efforts and providing insights into the broader impacts of community-based initiatives. ; Pennsylvania Department of Health |
