Since plant roots impact soil structure, understanding how root traits and more importantly combinations of root traits alter soil structure is paramount. Inherent root traits not only influence soil structure but also the ability of a plant to obtain nutrients, like phosphorus (P)1. By manipulating root trait composition and phosphorus availability we can investigate community-driven impacts on soil structure. |
