| Description: |
Scientific literacy is one of the frequently discussed topics in science education, thanks to the current school reform. Scientific literacy is not just a characteristic that a student possesses or does not possess, but rather an ability that can be acquired to varying degrees and is influenced by knowledge and attitudes toward science. Interest in natural sciences may have a positive impact on the development of scientific literacy. Still, specific evidence of the correlation between cognitive interest in physics and scientific literacy is limited. For this reason, we conducted research aimed at identifying this possible connection. The paper aims at describing the results of research focused on identifying the level of students’ cognitive interest in Physics and identifying the level of scientific literacy of these students. A combined non-standardised questionnaire was used as a research tool. Based on the analysis of the results, the correlation between the level of cognitive interest in Physics and the scientific literacy of our respondent sample was presented. |
