Published online: September 2025 ; The next five years will be crucial for the Tuscan economy and, more generally, for its development model and society. This Manifesto was written by three scholars with different personal histories and professional paths, but who share a positive vision of the entrepreneurial vitality of our territory, the vibrancy of civil society, and the role of the public sector and social partners. We think that efficiency, solidarity and security are not incompatible, but rather mutually reinforcing, and that green, digital and social transition is not an impossible trinity. But we see the risks of short-sightedness, lack of planning, and retreat to vested interests. Of particular concern is the process of deindustrialisation that has long involved Tuscany and that is experiencing a sharp surge in the recent period. It is good to remember that an important part of the successes achieved over time by the regional economy is linked to the prominence of manufacturing, so the recent difficulties of some of its components are a dangerous warning sign that needs to be addressed: industrial decline is not ineluctable, if the time horizon of political choices is lengthened. We offer this Manifesto as a contribution to the public debate. The Manifesto does not draw prête-à-porter solutions but outlines the contours of strategic choices and indicates possible paths to follow. Moving from “perimeter” to “area,” filling it with content is the responsibility of those who will lead Tuscany in the next five years, in a new partnership with economic and social actors for the industrial revitalisation of our region. ; I prossimi cinque anni saranno cruciali per l’economia toscana e, più in generale, per il suo modello di sviluppo e la sua società.
