which takes place in the same universe. In this apocalyptic novel, the crisis that humanity has to face is the crisis of language. Dantec structures his fictional world with christian figures and ideas as the antichrist, the saviour, the Word and the Grace but all these references are mixed with allusions to pop culture and rock music, within a very complex cyberpunk universe. The novel, in a labyrinth of technological and theological words, tells the story of the evolution or the devolution of man, wondering what is the essence of humanity. So christianism is maybe less important than the metadiscourse about fiction, literature and art. Christian references may be a basis for a symbolical quest, a source of archetypes, a tool for the author to express something else, which is an interrogation on his own art. The real religion in the novel could be the religion of language not only as a mediation with the world but as a world in itself. |
