| Description: |
Describes current methods of using the Atlantic synchronous satellite, Early Bird, and gives the total electron content and scintillation results obtained by a cooperative association of laboratories, the Joint Satellite Studies Group. Ionospheric information can now be obtained by direct measurement, instead of by estimation from data extrapolated from several sources, and diurnal and seasonal variations at individual stations can be studied by continuous observation. Indications are given of future developments and applications in this field. The research reported in this document has been sponsored in part by the Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development under Contract No. 130 AGARD 65. (Author) ; NATO furnished. |
