Moema juanderibaensis differs from congeners by a unique combination of the following characters on males: pattern of oblique, sometimes chevron-like, irregular rows of red and light blue double-dots on flanks; dark yellowish to golden pectoral fin with no visible markings (dots or spots); and ventral part of caudal-fin stripe pattern with very narrow black marginal line, intermittent or even absent (vs. never in this combination).
