This is the text of a interdisciplinary project proposal, as submitted in February 2022 to the call Interdisciplinarité Amidex: https://www.univ-amu.fr/fr/public/lancement-de-lappel-projets-interdisciplinarite-2021 ; Recently, we have seen a dramatic increase of initiatives from the scientific community aimed to warn of the environmental disasters. Neuroscience can actively contribute to a better understanding of both the processes that led our society to become the way it is, and the psychological and neurophysiological processes allowing a change in habits. Moreover, neuroscientists need to carefully consider whether and how to adapt to the climate crisis, in terms of research topics, research practices and educational curricula. The project aims at: redefining neuroscientific questions that may be relevant for understanding the actual crisis as well as suggesting new directions structuring a series of interdisciplinary meetings bringing their perspective on neuroscience at the era of Anthropocene adopting a collective vision and engaging in a discussion about the future of the community with respect to the climate crisis improving scientific practices in respect of environmental issues 9 Laboratories out of 9 of the NeuroMarseille community are represented in the current project, with a great diversity of disciplines and professional profiles. This project will 1) foster a structuring effort on an innovative and relevant topic 2) ignite a transformation of scientific practices and education, respectful of both environmental and socio-economic challenges 3) increase the dynamics of the NeuroMarseille Institute in terms of innovative and transdisciplinary research lines. |
