Mit einem zukünftigen Ende der Kampfhandlungen in Syrien könnte sich jedoch die Funktion dieses Formats verändern, zumal dann Fragen des politischen Übergangs in einem Verfassungskomitee unter VN-Vermittlung behandelt werden sollen. Deutschland sollte daher mit EU-Partnern Politikansätze formulieren, die einen Übergang des Astana-Prozesses in andere Strukturen einleiten können. Die Entwicklung solcher Ansätze ist umso dringlicher, als der Handlungsdruck für Europa nach dem Truppenabzug aus Syrien, den US-Präsident Trump am 6.
