The psychological and medical effects of concentration camps and related persecutions on survivors of the Holocaust

Research into various aspects of the Holocaust has escalated inrecent years just as the ranks of survivor-subjects are rapidlydiminishing. All documents contributing in any way to the knowledge ofpsychological and medical consequences have been included in thisbibliography. Materials are drawn from psychological, psychiatric, andsocial work literature and from personal accounts. In addition toprinted books and articles, references are made to manuscripts whichare housed at one of the three centres where major libraries of thiskind exist. The bibliography contains titles in English, French,Polish, Dutch, and German, as well as a number of other languages.

The major topics are:

1. Direct observations of, and direct reactions to, theconcentration camp during imprisonment and immediately afterliberation.

2. Compensation and rehabilitation.

3. Physical and psychological results.

4. Children as survivors.
