Stowe (business administration; director, Office of International Programs, Sam Houston State University) examines the role foreign financial institutions have played in the development of Poland's entrepreneurial sector, and provides a primer on Poland's economic development from 1989 through 1994. He reveals different marketing strategies used by foreign financial firms to enter the Polish financial services sector, and confirms that the major contribution of foreign financial institutions during this period was that of intellectual rather than financial capital. The author is also a professor of entrepreneurship at the Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management in Warsaw, Poland. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
