This book deals with the implementation of the politics of industrialisation in Eastern Europe from the French Revolution to the Second World War. It distinguishes three phases: economic proto-nationalism (1789-1860), liberal economic nationalism (1860-1914) and economic nationalism (1918-1939).This book also deals with the economic and social consequences of these politics. By comparing the experience of Finland with that of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, it underlines that during the inter-war period economic nationalism led to a failure because the government did not lean on the civil society. David shows that in a historical perspective, economic nationalism is closely linked with globalization. This study of the past is full of useful lessons for the present and future. French text.
